What does it mean to foster an animal?
Fostering is done by volunteers who provide temporary homes for a pet that has yet to find their forever family. Since the animal is still in the care of our rescue, medical care, food, and litter are all provided at no cost to the foster parents.
How long is a fostering commitment?
Each fostering situation is different and depends on the needs of the animal, the needs of the foster family, as well as potential adoptions. They can range from days, to weeks, to months.
Why is fostering important?
Foster families are heroes to our animals. Each foster home not only provides a loving and stable environment for an animal that currently resides in a shelter or rescue, but they enable small organizations like us to open up space and time for other pets in need. Fostering saves lives and can make each animal’s adjustment for potential adopters a smoother transition the more they learn, experience, and socialize.
What if I have my own pets?
Many foster families have their own pets at home. We work with your unique situation to find the best fit!
Is it hard to let go when they find their forever home?
The difficulty of saying goodbye to foster animals when they find their forever home is one of the biggest roadblocks for many potential foster families. While we know how emotional this time can be, it’s one of the most rewarding experiences and truly a cause for celebration. Animals are resilient and adaptable and your time spent fostering will only strengthen the odds of them finding their perfect fur-ever. Goodbye is the goal for foster families and every successful foster allows another animal to be saved!
